The First Release Before Neck Candy became a numbered Burkdoll Studios series, there was **Prototype No. 001**—the piece that marked the moment the idea left the studio and entered someone else’s story. Created especially for **Daphne**, this first-release composition was entrusted to her as the very first Neck Candy design to make its public debut. Its richly patterned textile is sculpturally gathered into a wearable form and finished with a prominent dragonfly embellishment, transforming the original necktie into something entirely new while preserving the character of the textile itself. The dragonfly was particularly fitting for the beginning of the series. Long associated with **change, resilience, and new beginnings**, it became an unintentional but meaningful symbol for a piece that represented the start of a new creative chapter for Burkdoll Studios. Unlike the numbered works that followed, this piece carries the designation **Prototype No. 001**. There will only ever be one. Its accompanying **Certificate of First Release** identifies Daphne as the **Founding Collector** and records the piece’s first public appearance as something meant not simply to be owned, but to be **worn, photographed, loved, and made part of a life**. Prototype No. 001 remains the starting point of the Neck Candy archive—the piece from which the series, its visual language, and its continuing story began.
